i actually had it embroidered at a local embroidery shop called On the Cuff we're looking into getting an embroidery machine once money comes our way, because we always find ourselves having to have Robin patches made haha
Out of curiosity, do you have any info on how you did the cape? (Pattern/tutorial/tips, etc.?) I'm trying to pull together a Robin costume for a con in a couple of weeks and I'm a little stumped on the front part of the cape. Yours sits really nicely across your shoulders/chest - any tips? Also, how have you got it fastened?
<da:drawing id="4830518894595095" format="200H"> yeah! I just drew this one the dA media thing, but I hope it helps. These are the basic panels you'd need to cut out. the top left panels are the front shoulder pieces, and when each shoulder piece is sewn to the according shoulders on the cape (right), it'll create a small pocket for the whole piece to fit over your shoulder. It opens in the front where you can put velcro, snaps, hooks, a zipper, or even elastic. The long rectangle is just the mandarin style collar!
I used a nice stretch satin for the gold and a matte black spandex material for the rest! It help to line the front panels with the same black material so its just the inside of the back that's actually gold.
The pic isn't working for me, but thanks for the reply! I've had to put the costume off because I had too much work still to do on it before FanExpo, and two other unfinished costumes (though they were much closer to being done!) that needed my attention instead. I'll get to it this fall, though. My goal is Halloween, or next year's conventions at the latest.
